Vegas Inspiration

October 22, 2013

Finding design inspiration is something that I think is in my blood.  No matter where I go, I always am snapping shots of interesting ideas to incorporate into my interiors, in my own or clients.  A recent trip to Las Vegas was no different and I wanted to share my findings with you.

First were these faceted tiles that were in one of the restrooms at the Paris Hotel & Casino.  It was mostly the installation that caught my attention.  The pyramid shapes in the overall scheme really make it interesting and almost a little crazy.  As I called them “spiky”!

Next was this fabulous chair at the Anthropologie store in the Forum Shops at Caesars.  Although it is a classic fauteuil (French armchair), it was the textile that drew me like a moth to flame.  It was so textural, nubby, and vibrant that it made me rush to take a picture of it, even though I was shopping for clothing.  Ok, ok, I have posted in the past that I usually stick to the rule of having larger pieces of upholstery in neutral fabrics, but this is definitely an investment in a style I would not mind having around.

Beyond the chair at Anthropologie was this installation of a book arch.  How perfect would this be to an entrance to a study, or just being in a book lovers home?  This takes the ordinary square opening and turns it into the extraordinary.

Here’s a close up shot of that great arch.

Back in the Paris, in yet another restroom, was this fantastic vanity mirror.  The ribbon, leaves, and round shape would be a wonderful addition to a residential bathroom.  Its unique nature would ramp up the most bland of washrooms.

Last but not least was another vanity mirror I saw at the The Palazzo.  This time however it was the antiqued mirror tile mounted behind the mirror that intrigued me.  The play between the mottled and clear reflections was stunning.

Where do you find inspiration?
