West Elm Inspired Design Studio Plans

March 5, 2014

I am taking a break this week from my Get the Look series to share some upcoming design plans I have going on.  Since my business has been growing, my tiny design studio has become a place I spend more and more time in.  It is a more industrial space with a workbench and stool where I do DIY projects and work on re purposing items for clients.  I am also currently working on creating home decor items to sell on Etsy as a part of my business expansion.  Being a designer, having aesthetically pleasing surroundings is a must for encouraging creativity and ingenuity.

A recent Instagram post revealed a huge eyesore in the studio with exposed duct work, not the cool industrial kind, I’m talking the fuzzy insulation kind.  I think I have found an easy solution and I will see if it works, but I don’t want to share in case it totally fails.  Several DIY failures have happened recently, making me even more determined to make the crazy ideas I have in my head come to fruition.

West Elm Inspired Design Studio Plans

The basic idea is taking my love for West Elm and injecting their essence into my creative space.  I will be creating my version of a green wall like behind the counter at my local South Coast Plaza store, adding the feel of their cut wood wall similar to what they displayed in their catalog, and having lots of storage options.  I love the look of wire baskets that can house paint cans and heavy duty tools.  There is also nothing like adding the letters of your company to really make it official.

Over the next few weeks in between projects, I am going to be working on this space.  I just know that it will help me with my creative mind and spirit to flow.
