New Items in the Etsy Shop

January 19, 2015

We’ve been out curating!

There are now new vintage items in the Janeane Pittman Interior Design Etsy Shop.

Ivory Bud Vase

Ivory Bud Vase

This sweet ceramic vintage ivory bud vase. Cute and simple. It looks to have been hand made with an initial D on the bottom.

Bird Perfume Bottle

Bird Perfume Bottle

This vintage glass bird perfume bottle is from a by gone era. The sweet dobber is shaped in the form of a bird and the bottle itself looks like a swirl. What a wonderful piece for those who collect birds, have a vintage perfume bottle collection, or have a vanity that needs a little vintage appeal.

Pair of Geode Stones

Pair of Geode Stones

This pair of geode stones are natures beauty at its best. The cut stone reveals the colors and geode inside. These would look wonderful just sitting as a display or used as a paper weight on a desk.

Yellow Floral Painting

Vintage Yellow Floral Painting

This vintage yellow floral painting is a handmade piece done in the 1960’s encased in an adorable golden painted frame. It is sweet and simple ready to be hung by itself or in a wall gallery.

Snow Shoe

Antique Native American Indian Snow Shoe

This antique Native American Indian snow shoe was made between the 1870’s and 1920’s. It’s wood frame has raw hide bindings and red pom poms on the side that show wear from much usage. Several sections of this snow shoe have damage and repairs from previous owners, but they just add that much more charm to this now decorative piece.

And I am proud to announce that we will now be incorporating vintage fashion accessories.  Here is my first listing in this section.

Mary Ann Rosenfeld Satchel

Vintage Mary Ann Rosenfeld Satchel

This vintage 1970’s Mary Ann Rosenfeld satchel is just superb. It has a multi colored textured fabric body that resembles a rag rug paired with warm brown leather details. The satchel has both a hand strap as well as a detachable long strap that can be utilized as a cross body bag. A magnetic closure, interior zipper, & metal feet make this piece still very versatile. The handbag does have some damage to the front flap & top of the leather as shown on the 2nd close up picture. The inside does show some wear, but is still a wonderful and usable vintage piece with undeniable character.

Vintage Floral PaintingVintage Floral PaintingVintage Wall Christmas TreeVintage Wall Christmas Tree

Finding vintage treasures at estate sales is one of the most wonderful feelings.  It’s kind of like getting a hug from your mom.  This little floral painting is nothing fancy or done by anyone famous, in fact I am pretty sure it was done by the home owner.  The sweet yellow flowers fill my heart with joy and the gold frame just is the cherry on top of a bowl of yummy ice cream.

I almost passed this Christmas tree wall hanging up.  I was purchasing the art in the garage when I saw it hanging next to all the gardening supplies.  Whimsical and bohemian all in one, the yarn tree was more than likely handmade by the home owner as well, basing upon the plethora of craft supplies in the house.  The pom poms and fringe make my heart jump for joy.

I will treasure these items for many years and I feel a spiritual connection to the woman behind them.

What do you look for at estate sales?  Have you found anything you love recently?

One Room Challenge Linking Participant

Another week has gone by and more work has been done on the #OneRoomChallenge space.  This Heywood Wakefield Dream is turning out to be a very special project because my client has an emotional attachment to the meaning behind this rooms design.  The West Elm loveseat and chair have been delivered and the vintage refinished Heywood Wakefield casegoods are complete, so that means that all of the big items are in the room and  I am loading in all the “stuff” to make it come alive.

Check out everything I have done up to this point:

Week 1: All Before Photos and The Design Plan

Week 2: Shopping at West Elm

Week 3: Painting, Refinishing vintage Heywood Wakefield pieces, and Reviving some thrift store cantilever chairs

Week 4: Taking care of a few issues like dealing with artwork that was too small of scale, where to plug in a lamp, and hanging a mirror on top of a mirror

One Room Challenge

I got these amazing gray and white geometric pattern drapery panels at HomeGoods and I love how this whole mix of colors are happening.  These are being hung up today!

This faux stone table lamp is yet another source of light to go on the Heywood Wakefield side table.

Then I loaded up a basket and raided my Etsy shop for vintage accessories.  I think I kind of did an overkill, but you can never have too many options.

Here are a few pics of items I pulled:

Now I am having a “jazz hand” moment in this incredible starburst mirror… (sorry, I get really corny when I am excited, blame it on seeing too many musicals and my vocal coach)

…that is going to be hung up over the West Elm Anders Chair.

Oh, my clients cute puppy keeps distracting me!

And now the room is ready for it’s last detail…GREENERY!  A few clippings and I am off to take pictures for the reveal next week.  Be sure to come back next Thursday, November 6th to see the completed room.

See all the other participants in the One Room Challenge at Calling It Home and check up on their progress too.

Chairish Design by Janeane Pittman Interior Design

I was honored when I was contacted by Chairish to create a design based on select pieces from their curated collections of pre-loved furnishings and decor.  Using vintage items in a new and creative way to make a unique space is something I just love to do and Chairish is always on my list of vendors to check out when I am creating a design for a client.

When I opened the vintage collection they sent me, the first two things that caught my eye was a Golden Velour Three Seat Sofa and a Vintage Brass Lamp in Glossy Midnight Blue.  The sofa has wonderful sweeping lines across the back and arms and a color I knew that I could work off of.  And the lamp, well, I just love a good pillar lamp with unusual finishes.

That golden hue spurred on a color palette of gold, pink, and turquoise with touches of black and white for impact.  Mixing in modern elements like iron and marble side tables and an acrylic and brass cocktail table, along side the vintage pieces, it elevates the design to something truly special.  I even added in a low tufted footstool to act as a dog bed because I am always finding that most of my clients have one in the family.

Overall, the nature of this room is whimsical and dramatic with a rug, yes a rug, on the wall to act as a backdrop to an ornately framed mirror.  And pillows, lots and lots of pillows.  All the different textures and patterns play off of each other making the space lively and spirited.  This design also incorporates a touch of bohemian and ethnic flair contrasting against contemporary styles.

If you are interested in having a space in your home done with a vintage modern flair, I would love to create a one-of-a-kind look for you and your family to incorporate your lifestyle.  Please email me at janeane@janeanepittman.com or send me a comment on this post so we can set up a time to chat.  For more information on my services, please visit my web site at janeanepittman.com.
